I love New Years Day. It’s fresh, it’s new, it’s the beginning of 365 days of possibilities. It’s the gateway to new adventures and new milestones. Of course it helps that spring and summer are now within clear view….well atleast to me they are.
Our New Year’s Day in Michigan is cold (23 degrees) but the sun is shinning. In fact it’s so bright outside right now that if it weren’t for the snow and the bare trees you could almost be fooled into thinking it was spring or summer when you look out the windows.
I began my first day of the new year by sleeping in a little late today….until 10:20 a.m. to be exact thanks to my little cutie Eric who actually slept that late and woke grandma up with a hug and a kiss!! (A great way to wake up by the way). “OK grandma, the sun is shinning we can wake up now.” This being his logic since I told him that he had to stay in bed until the sun was out. Eric’s last few sleepover’s found him awake at 3:00 a.m. watching nickjr with grandma begging him to go back to sleep which eventually he did and I couldn’t because by then it was time for me to get out of bed and start the day.
Eric is now on his way home with his momma. We will enjoy a lazy day watching the Michigan game munching on nacho’s and cheese, spinach dip and Hawaiian sweet rolls. An afternoon of snacking and football, maybe a video. Tonight we’ll have a nice garden salad and cheese ravioli in a white spinach sauce.
We’re going to enjoy this first day of a new year without any pressure or negativity. And as we move into the days ahead we won’t be bullied or held captive by other’s negativity. We won’t be drawn into the disagreements of others. We’re moving into this new year with a positive outlook. In 2013 negativity, bullying and selfishness are not welcome or allowed here. We welcome those who feel the same to join us on our journey into a loving, positive, stress free new year.
