A Little Garden

A poem written by Joshua Michael and Nancy Rezich

There is a little garden

nestled way out back

it’s snuggled in the corner

cradled by a fence

Joshua and papa

put the garden there

so they wouldn’t uproot

flowers planted near

They seeded and they rested

they sweated a little too

the little garden planted

nothing left to do

They waited and they weeded

chatted and chided too

about their little garden

that sprouted and inch or two

Then they saw a breakthrough

as their garden grew

a few beans here

new cukes there

and two tomatoes too

Although I did not get to help

on me they did bestow

a basket filled with vegetables

from where their garden grew

Delectable

sensational

beautiful

it’s true

On our menu they will be

before the day is through
